Sustainability

Resource and carbon accounting. Account for the energy, water, and carbon footprint of AI consumption using the platform’s energy catalog and per-model energy ratings.

In the app, Sustainability is the sixth domain in the left navigation. Its pages open under /domains/sustainability/, and breadcrumbs read Sustainability / AI Energy Index.

Outcome and decision

  • Outcome: translate AI consumption into attributable resource-footprint evidence.
  • Decision it supports: which models and teams warrant closer energy, water, or carbon review.

Workflow

  1. Review model factors in Sustainability / AI Energy Index. Use the reference catalog to understand the factors available for frontier models.
  2. Quantify your footprint in Sustainability / Your energy & carbon. Convert observed workspace consumption into energy, water, and carbon estimates.
  3. Review team and model drivers in Sustainability / Your energy & carbon. Inspect the same footprint by the teams and models responsible for consumption.

Capabilities

Capability What it shows Guide
Sustainability / AI Energy Index The public reference catalog: operational energy, water, and carbon for frontier models, with evidence tiers and per-model ratings. Public AI Energy Index
Sustainability / Your energy & carbon Your own AI consumption converted to energy, water, and carbon using the index, attributed to your teams and models. Energy & carbon, Methodology

How to read the results

Footprint calculations depend on catalog factors and observed usage; they are estimates, not an audited emissions inventory or offsets. The energy methods document every formula, factor, and catalog version.
